I’m a big fan of xkcd.com comics, by Randall Munroe.
The guy is an honorable academic and a very creative comic author.
The reason I (and many other of his fans) way enjoy his work is that
he can totally merge together things that we academics, geeks and nerds,
see as really fun, but which are somewhat distinct in their nature.
His capacity of association and disassociation is amazing.
It’s a clear aspect of mine that I don’t enjoy working in any business area.
You know, I think it is (in most cases) an alternative that wastes too much of our potential.
So as I’m really the academic type, seeing happiness and satisfaction in research and university life,
I’m completely inclined to live this latter way.
In this comic Randall satirizes that ‘waste of potential’.
It is so actual, and (man.. a thesis or two) it is so inspiring!
